Fuair mé go leor ceisteanna thar an rphost le cúpla lá anuas so seo cúpla nóta…

Clárú

Is gá clárú liom chuig snamh@aodhanodea.ie le do ainm agus uimhir gutháin  má tá spéis agat teacht (tá thart ar 10 cinntithe go dtí seo).

Beidh mé ag lorg uimhir shealadach roimh 1 Feabhra ionas gur féidir liom lóistín/busanna a shocrú. Is gá 250+ a thiomsú roimh 1 Aibreán le spás a chinntiú

An Dúshlán

Ní bheidh an dúshlán seo éasca- príomh fadhbanna ná 1-Am 2- Fuacht agus 3- An Snámh féin. Nílim ag iarraidh eagla a chuir ar duine ar bith ach is gá smaoineamh ar na nótaí thíos sula chuireann tú d’ainm féin chun tosaigh

1- Am: Tá sé fíor dheacair gach contae a dhéanamh thar an 2 lá so ní bheidh ach 10 nóiméad i ngach contae. Ní bheidh am athrú ag an trá/cé agus beidh ar daoine athrú ar an mbus dáiríre ionas go bhfuil muid réidh le rith isteach san uisce. Tá sé eagraithe agam ionas go mbeidh 2 snámh gearr dá chéile  agus briseadh uair a chloig go dtí an chéad contae eile ina dhiaidh sin don chuid is mó. Molaim athrú agus fan te sa bhriseadh seo. An chéad lá ach go háirithe beimid ag tosú ag 8 ar maidin agus críochnú ag 10 san oíche. Má táimid déanach beidh sé ro- dheacair teacht ar áit le dul ag snámh leis an taoide amuigh. Beimid ag tógáil lón linn agus ag fáil bia ar an mbóthar

2- Fuacht: Beidh an uisce/ aer dochreidte fuair i Mí Aibreán. Is gá ar a laghad 3 tuáille agus cúpla fallaing sheomra (dressing gown) a thabhairt leat. Is gá tú féin a thromú roimh dul ar ais ar an mbus ionas nach bhfuil an bus fliuch báite agus salach. Chuige sin níl Culaith Fhliuch (wetsuit) oiriúnach – ní bheidh am athrú isteach is amach as agus beidh tú níos fearr as le tuáillí, fallaing sheomra agus go leor éadaí te
3- An Snámh Féin: Ní bheidh gach contae ar nós Ibiza – cuid mhaith de na contaetha ní bheidh trá ar bith ann gearr don bhealach is tapúla timpeall na tíre. Beidh orainn léimt as céanna nach bhfuil ró dheas nó I gcás amháin (Co. Liatroima) níl fiú cé ann agus is gá siúl tríd abhainn shalach le teacht ar an bhfarraige. Le cuir i gcuimhne daoibh an dúshlán atá ann ná ceann faoin uisce i ngach contae. Ná abair nár thug mé rabhadh daoibh!!!

Ach beidh an craic dochreidte. Ceist ar bith bígí i dteagmháil liom. 0863102691

I got a lot of questions through email over the last few days so here is a few notes…

Registration
Please register with me to snamh@aodhanodea.ie with your name and mobile number if you are interested. (about 10 confirmed so far).
I will be looking for provisional numbers by 1st February so I can book accommodation/busses. Please be aware also that each person needs to raise €250+ by April to confirm a place.

The Challenge
This challenge will not be easy- main difficulties will be 1-Time, 2- The Cold and 3- The Swim. I don’t want to frighten anybody off but please note the points below before putting your own name forward.

1- Time: It is very hard to get to all of the counties over the 2 days so we will only really have a 10 minute stop in each county. There will not be time to change at each beach/pier therefore people will have to change on the bus so we will be ready to run into the water once bus stops. I have planned it out as far as practicable that there will be 2 swims close together and an hour break before the next county each time. I would suggest changing and staying warm for this big break each time. The first day in particular we will be starting at 8 in the morning and finishing at 10 at night. If we are late it could be too hard to find places to swim when the tide goes out. We will take a packed lunch with us and get food on the road.

2-The Cold: The sea/ air will be very cold in April. You will need to take at least 3 towels and a few dressing gowns with you. We will all need to dry ourselves before getting back on the bus so the bus does not become wet and dirty. Because of this Wetsuits are not suitable. There will be no time to change in and out each time and you will be better off with towels , dressing gowns and lots of warm clothes.

3- The swim itself: Every county will not be like Ibiza- A good few of the counties do not have beaches near the shortest route around the country. We will have to jump from piers that aren’t always that nice and in once case (Leitrim) there is not even a pier and we will need to walk through a pretty dirty river to get to the sea. Just to remind you all the challenge is to have your head under the water in each county! Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

But it will be mighty craic. Any questions give me a call on 0863102691
